Virginia Tech in Final Two for Key Transfer Portal Target

Virginia Tech football is in the mix for a crucial transfer portal recruit as head coach Brent Pry works to address roster gaps for the 2025 season. After losing some key players to the NFL and graduation, the Hokies are focused on landing UTSA edge rusher Jimmori Robinson, a standout talent from Alexandria, Va.

The departure of Antwaun Powell-Ryland and Aeneas Peebles has left significant holes on Virginia Tech’s defensive line. Robinson, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound in-state player, could be the solution. This season, Robinson recorded 43 tackles and 10.5 sacks for UTSA, earning AAC Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Robinson has narrowed his options to Virginia Tech and West Virginia, making this a critical recruitment for the Hokies. Adding Robinson would not only address a pressing need but also bring in a potential future NFL player in his final year of eligibility.

Adam Friedman of Rivals recently ranked Robinson as the top linebacker in the transfer portal, further emphasizing the importance of this decision. While Robinson has visited several Power Four programs, Virginia Tech hopes its track record of securing in-state talent and its need for a defensive playmaker will influence his choice.

For Brent Pry and the Hokies, landing Robinson is a top priority in what has become a pivotal recruitment battle.
