Breaking: ‘Am leaving for Good’ Virginia Tech veteran announces departure

Former Virginia Tech Safety Jalen Stroman Commits to Notre Dame for 2025

When Virginia Tech kicked off its 2024 season against Vanderbilt, expectations were high due to strong roster retention from 2023. The Hokies’ secondary, in particular, benefitted from the return of key players, including safety Jalen Stroman.

However, the Bristow, Virginia native experienced a disappointing start to the season. In the overtime loss to Vanderbilt, Stroman managed five tackles before suffering an injury that ended his season—and ultimately his time with Virginia Tech.

Stroman Transfers to Notre Dame

Following the conclusion of the 2024 season, Stroman was one of several Virginia Tech defensive backs to enter the transfer portal. While teammates Mose Phillips and Mansoor Delane found new homes at Missouri and LSU, respectively, Stroman remained undecided—until now.

On Sunday, it was announced that Stroman has committed to Notre Dame for the 2025 season. The Fighting Irish are set to face Ohio State in the National Championship Game, though Stroman won’t be eligible to play in that matchup. His move to Notre Dame gives him an opportunity to enhance his NFL Draft prospects for 2026.

In his four years at Virginia Tech, Stroman recorded 112 tackles (56 solo and 56 assisted) and forced two fumbles. His standout season came in 2023, when he registered a career-high 55 tackles after tallying 43 in 2022. Now, he looks to make an impact with Notre Dame as he prepares for the next stage of his football journey.
