JUST IN: ‘am leaving for good’ Virginia Star land commitment with Cincinnati

Cincinnati Lands Virginia Tech Edge Rusher C.J. McCray

The Cincinnati Bearcats bolstered their pass rush on Sunday by securing Virginia Tech edge rusher C.J. McCray from the transfer portal for his final year of eligibility.

The 6-foot-4, 251-pound McCray saw limited action during the 2024 season, appearing in six games and playing just 64 defensive snaps. He concluded his Virginia Tech career with a Pro Football Focus grade of 51.8 and totaled 5.5 sacks over 675 defensive snaps across four seasons.

McCray is the second edge rusher to join Cincinnati this offseason, alongside Old Dominion’s Jaylon White-McClain. Both players are expected to compete for key roles on the defensive line alongside returners like Mikah Coleman and Marquaze Parker.
