USC Trojans Land Top JUCO Prospect to Strengthen Offense
By Ryan Anderson | January 5, 2025
The USC Trojans have bolstered their backfield with the addition of highly sought-after running back Waymond Jordan from Hutchinson Community College.
Jordan, standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 205 pounds, initially committed to UCF before deciding to join USC. His arrival brings an explosive offensive option to Lincoln Riley’s team.
Jordan’s Impressive Stats
In his final season at Hutchinson, Jordan demonstrated his exceptional skills by rushing for 1,612 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also contributed in the passing game, recording six receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown. Jordan chose USC over other programs, including UCF, North Carolina, and Mississippi State.
Eligibility and Depth Chart Impact
Having redshirted his freshman season, Jordan is expected to have three or four years of eligibility remaining, subject to NCAA rulings on JUCO transfers.
Jordan will join a competitive running back group at USC, which recently added New Mexico transfer Eli Sanders, who rushed for 1,063 yards and nine touchdowns last season. Returning players include Bryan Jackson and A’Marion Peterson, while true freshmen Riley Wormley and Harry Dalton are also set to compete. Despite the depth, there is no clear frontrunner for the starting role, giving Jordan a strong opportunity to make an impact.
Broader Recruiting Success
Jordan becomes USC’s eighth transfer addition in this cycle. Other notable additions include defensive tackle Keeshawn Silver (Kentucky), defensive tackle Jamaal Jarrett (Georgia), running back Eli Sanders (New Mexico), defensive back DJ Harvey (San Jose State), punter Sam Johnson (Valparaiso), kicker Caden Chittenden (UNLV), and offensive lineman DJ Wingfield (Purdue).
This commitment continues USC’s efforts to build a well-rounded and competitive roster for the upcoming season.
