JUST IN: Red Sox Urged To Swing Blockbuster Trade For $427 Million Rival Superstar

The Boston Red Sox, still recovering from a lackluster 2024 season, have made minor improvements but have yet to land a transformative acquisition. While Alex Bregman remains a potential free-agent target, the team’s interest in him appears to be fading. If the Red Sox ultimately miss out on Bregman, they’ll need a significant move to salvage their offseason. Cody Williams of FanSided recently speculated that Boston might consider a blockbuster trade for rival superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr., should the Toronto Blue Jays entertain offers for him—a scenario that remains highly uncertain.

“The Red Sox have long seemed like a logical next destination for Guerrero,” Williams noted, “and it’s possible that Boston’s cautious offseason approach under Craig Breslow hints at an eye toward Vladdy next winter. However, they could expedite that process by offering a package centered on Marcelo Mayer and other top prospects.”

Despite the improbability of the Blue Jays trading Guerrero, especially to a division rival, the Red Sox could present a compelling offer. Boston’s robust farm system, even after trading Garrett Crochet, could provide Toronto with a strong foundation for rebuilding. Prospects like Triston Casas, Wilyer Abreu, and Marcelo Mayer might be included to sweeten the deal.

While the possibility of a Guerrero trade remains remote, the Red Sox may emerge as leading contenders if Toronto decides to make their star available. Could such a blockbuster move be on the horizon?
