Hadley Panzer, a standout offensive lineman for Kansas State, is ready to retire from football and embrace a new chapter in life after a successful collegiate career. Unlike many players navigating the transfer portal or NFL Draft, Panzer has a clear vision for his future: returning home to farm.
“I’m going home to farm,” Panzer said following K-State’s thrilling 44-41 victory over Rutgers in the Rate Bowl in Phoenix. The 6-foot-4, 310-pound right guard hails from Lakin, a small town in western Kansas with a population of just over 2,200. His football journey has been marked by consistency and success. After playing in nine games as a freshman, Panzer became a mainstay on the Wildcats’ offensive line, earning 39 consecutive starts. He was instrumental in the Wildcats’ 2022 Big 12 Championship and back-to-back nine-win seasons in 2023 and 2024.
Panzer’s college career ended on a high note as he helped K-State rack up 542 yards and 44 points in their comeback bowl win. Content with his accomplishments, he’s ready to move on. “I’m hanging up the cleats and walking out with a win,” he said. “I’m proud of my career and what I’ve been able to achieve. I wouldn’t trade my journey for anything else. K-State will always be home.”
While Panzer has petitioned the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility, the request is considered a long shot. Having played in at least nine games for four consecutive seasons without missing time due to injury, there’s little justification for granting him extra eligibility. Panzer is realistic about his chances and has prepared himself to step away from the sport, focusing on a future beyond football.
