Kansas State Secures Transfer Commitment from Jayden Rowe
Kansas State has kicked off its transfer portal season with a major addition, landing former Oklahoma Sooner Jayden Rowe on Thursday night. Rowe, a cornerback for Oklahoma over the past three seasons, redshirted his freshman year and suffered a season-ending injury in the first game of the 2023 season. With “2-3 years of eligibility” remaining, as noted on his social media, Rowe brings high potential to the Wildcats.
A standout at Tulsa Union in high school, Rowe was ranked as the No. 5 player in Oklahoma and the No. 27 cornerback nationally. During a 2021 matchup between Tulsa Union and Owasso, GoPowercat praised Rowe’s physical presence, noting his impact as a 225-pound cornerback. Now listed at 6’2” and 221 pounds, Rowe becomes the largest cornerback in Kansas State’s secondary under coach Van Malone.
Rowe’s size and versatility were key factors in Kansas State’s interest, as he has the flexibility to play both cornerback and safety when needed. Compared to Julius Brents for his physical profile, Rowe is expected to make an immediate impact and address the Wildcats’ need for a larger cornerback heading into 2025.
After visiting Kansas State earlier in the week, speculation about Rowe’s decision intensified, culminating in Thursday night’s announcement of his commitment. Despite limited game experience, Rowe’s addition is a promising start to what is anticipated to be a busy transfer portal season for Kansas State. With over a dozen players already in the portal and more expected to leave, the Wildcats are preparing for significant roster changes.
Stay tuned to GoPowercat for updates on Rowe and the rest of Kansas State’s transfer portal class.
