JUST IN: Miami lands in another super pitcher to Bolster Infield Depth

The Miami Marlins have added versatility to their roster by signing infielder Eric Wagaman to a one-year contract, the team announced on Friday. To accommodate Wagaman on the 40-man roster, the Marlins designated infielder Vidal Bruján for assignment.

Wagaman, 27, brings a promising combination of power and consistency. He made his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Angels in September, delivering a solid .250 batting average with two home runs and 10 RBIs over 18 games. Primarily utilized at third base, where he started 17 games, Wagaman also demonstrated his flexibility with a single appearance in left field.

In the minors, Wagaman showcased his offensive potential across two levels this past season. Over 121 games, he hit .274 with 17 home runs and 60 RBIs, further proving his ability to contribute both at the plate and in the field.

The Marlins are clearly looking to reinforce their infield options, and Wagaman’s blend of experience and upside fits the bill. His performance during his brief MLB stint, coupled with his steady production in the minors, positions him as a potential asset for Miami as they prepare for the upcoming season.

This move underscores the Marlins’ commitment to building a competitive roster by adding players who can provide depth and impact when needed. Wagaman’s arrival sets the stage for an intriguing spring as he looks to solidify his role with the team.
