Texas Makes a Key Announcement Ahead of CFP Clash With Clemson
The University of Texas is set to host the Clemson Tigers in the opening round of the College Football Playoff (CFP) on Saturday, Dec. 21. Thanks to the 12-team playoff format, first-round games are played at the higher seed’s home stadium, giving Texas a significant home-field advantage. Despite narrowly missing a top-four seed and a first-round bye after a close 22-19 overtime loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, the Longhorns secured the No. 5 seed with an 11-2 record (both losses to Georgia).
The game will take place at the sold-out Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, as confirmed by a post from the university on X Wednesday night: “One more time in DKR-TMS.”
Texas enters the matchup as a 12-point favorite over the ACC champion Tigers, with the line moving up from its opening at 10.5 points, reflecting strong betting confidence in the Longhorns. If Texas wins, they will advance to the Round of 8, where they will face the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl on New Year’s Day.
