The Minnesota Vikings will have their full special teams unit back in action as they face the Atlanta Falcons at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The team officially activated kicker Will Reichard and long snapper Andrew DePaola from injured reserve. To make room on the roster, kicker Parker Romo was waived. Earlier in the week, the Vikings had cleared another roster spot by releasing Jake McQuaide, who had temporarily filled in for DePaola.
Reichard, who suffered a thigh injury in the Week 9 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, had been flawless before that game but missed two kicks against the Colts. DePaola, a standout long snapper, earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2022 and second-team recognition in 2023.
Romo performed admirably during Reichard’s absence, converting two game-winning field goals, including an overtime victory against Chicago in Week 12. Despite missing one field goal and one extra point in four games, Romo’s strong showing suggests he’ll find another opportunity in the NFL soon.
Additionally, the Vikings elevated outside linebacker Gabriel Murphy to the active roster for Sunday’s game. After spending the season on injured reserve and a brief stint on the practice squad, Murphy is set to make his NFL debut.
With these moves, the Vikings appear ready for Sunday’s matchup. Any further roster updates will be shared as they come.
