JUST IN: Yankees Juan soto gets very attractive offer from rival.

The Boston Red Sox appear poised to spend like a big-market team once again, potentially setting the stage for intense competition with the New York Yankees this offseason. One of the major storylines is their pursuit of free agent Juan Soto, who is drawing interest from both teams and others. While the Red Sox’s aggressive approach could disrupt the Yankees’ plans, Boston’s ambitions won’t stop at landing Soto.

Adding Soto would significantly bolster the Red Sox lineup, but their rotation still needs work to transform them into true World Series contenders. Similarly, the Yankees face challenges even if they re-sign Soto, as simply maintaining the status quo won’t be enough to overcome last season’s shortcomings.

Both teams are also targeting top-tier left-handed pitching. With Blake Snell signing with the Dodgers, Max Fried has emerged as a key target. MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports that both rivals are eyeing Fried, potentially setting up a bidding war. Fried, a two-time All-Star with a 3.07 career ERA, would address Boston’s lack of an established ace and left-handed starter. For the Yankees, Fried would enhance an already strong rotation anchored by Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon.

Missing out on Soto and Fried would be disastrous for the Yankees, as they would struggle to improve their roster meaningfully. The pressure is on both franchises to secure significant upgrades, with the rivalry intensifying in the offseason market.
