Recruiting Update: Clemson and South Carolina Gain and Lose Prospects
From Huntington, West Virginia, Tayveon Wilson, a 6’3”, 205-pound tight end, announced on November 21 that he will join Clemson’s football program. Wilson, currently a high school receiver, was recruited as a tight end after showcasing his skills during Clemson’s summer camp. In his sophomore year, he tallied 27 receptions, 588 yards, and 11 touchdowns. Despite his community being impacted by Hurricane Helene, Wilson visited Clemson in October and was impressed by the enthusiastic game-day atmosphere, solidifying his decision.
On the other hand, Clemson lost a significant recruit as 2025 safety Tae Harris flipped his commitment to Georgia Tech. Originally committed to Clemson in March, Harris chose the Tigers for their strong academic reputation and football program. However, his recent visit to Georgia Tech’s game against NC State violated Clemson’s recruiting policies, leading to his official announcement on November 23. Harris is the fifth recruit to decommit from Clemson’s 2025 class, reducing the group to 13 players.
Meanwhile, Clemson has been focusing on recruiting Irmo wide receiver Donovan Murph, who visited for an official game weekend. Murph is also considering South Carolina and Colorado, with a decision expected on January 2 during the Under Armour All-American Game. Clemson also extended an offer to 2026 defensive end Jamarion Matthews of Alabama, adding to their long-term recruitment efforts.
South Carolina, hosting its final game-day recruitment event against Missouri, welcomed several prospects, including defensive tackle Christian Ingram. Ingram, who has the Gamecocks in his top three alongside Kentucky and Vanderbilt, praised South Carolina’s coaching staff for their consistent communication and emphasis on early playing opportunities. He plans to announce his commitment on December 4 after his final official visit to Vanderbilt.
Finally, South Carolina and Clemson are both pursuing top talent for the 2026 class, including linebacker Brayden Rouse and offensive tackle Zyon Guiles. Clemson also announced the signing of three men’s basketball recruits, while the women’s basketball program secured commitments from top prospects, reflecting continued focus on building competitive rosters across sports.
