Has Clemson Found Its Next Star Pass-Catcher?
Clemson football has secured a verbal commitment from Tayveon Wilson, a 3-star wide receiver and tight end from West Virginia. With the early signing window for 2025 recruits just a month away, the Tigers are simultaneously laying the groundwork for their 2026 recruiting class, and Wilson is a major piece of that puzzle.
On Thursday, Wilson became the latest addition to Clemson’s 2026 class, giving his commitment to head coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers. Clemson identified Wilson as a priority early in the process, extending him an offer back in June—ahead of many other programs pursuing 2026 talent.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 205 pounds, Wilson is ranked as the No. 2 player in West Virginia and the No. 75 wide receiver in the nation according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. With his size and skill set, he has the potential to transition into a tight end at the college level if he adds more weight. Regardless of his position, Clemson is thrilled to have him on board.
Wilson chose Clemson over offers from several notable programs, including Arkansas, Illinois, Louisville, Penn State, Miami, and his home-state school, West Virginia. A standout multi-sport athlete, Wilson’s early commitment underscores his confidence in Clemson’s program and development opportunities.
He is the fourth prospect to commit to Clemson’s 2026 class, joining 3-star recruits Shavar Young Jr. (cornerback, Tennessee), Tait Reynolds (quarterback, Arizona), and Brock Bradley (quarterback, Alabama). While the recruiting process is still in its early stages, Wilson is currently the crown jewel of the Tigers’ 2026 class and has the potential to develop into one of Clemson’s next great pass-catchers.
