the 2023-24 Duke basketball standout, continues to impress, averaging 28.3 points per game this week. The 20-year-old California native, who has quickly made a name for himself, seems to be positioning himself as a strong contender for NBA Rookie of the Year. McCain’s recent performances have only bolstered his case.
On Friday, McCain made his second consecutive start for the Philadelphia 76ers, scoring 29 points in 31 minutes during a 98-86 loss to the Orlando Magic. The Magic, still missing key players Paolo Banchero (oblique) and Wendell Carter Jr. (foot), couldn’t slow down McCain’s scoring. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound guard shot 10-for-17 from the field, including 5-for-10 from three-point range, and was perfect at the free-throw line, going 4-for-4.
This stellar performance came just two nights after McCain posted a career-high 34 points and 10 assists in a home loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Over the course of the week, he tallied a total of 50 points across three games.
