BREAKING NEWS: Bills or nothing blockbuster tells club.

Weeks ago, veteran defensive back Mike Edwards requested a trade from the Buffalo Bills, reportedly due to limited playing time. Despite playing in every game and winning a championship with the Chiefs last season, Edwards found himself positioned for a starting role in Buffalo but was hindered by injuries during spring practices and training camp. During his absence, standout safety Damar Hamlin emerged, relegating Edwards to a backup role. Consequently, he appeared in only three of the Bills’ first eight games.

The Bills were unable to find a trade partner for Edwards by the deadline and ultimately released him. He was then signed by the Titans but was quickly let go. The Buccaneers claimed Edwards off waivers, which all NFL players, even experienced ones, must clear after the trade deadline (which was on November 5).

This move prompts questions about the timing of the Buccaneers’ decision. They could have secured Edwards from Buffalo earlier, likely through a late-round draft pick swap. However, it seems Tampa Bay did not see the need for him before their loss to the Chiefs. Additionally, the team did not pursue Edwards when he became a free agent after the trade deadline and signed with the Titans.

The sudden interest in Edwards may be tied to the MRI results for cornerback Zyon McCollum’s hamstring injury, potentially pushing the team into urgent action. While Edwards isn’t expected to be a game-changer, his familiarity with Tampa Bay and his versatility during his previous four-year stint could provide valuable depth.
