Buffalo Bills wide receiver Amari Cooper is likely to return for their highly anticipated game against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend, albeit with some precautions. Cooper sustained a wrist injury during the Bills’ 31-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8, causing him to miss the last two games, which the Bills won against the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts.
Heading into the matchup with the Chiefs, a team that has eliminated Buffalo from the playoffs in three of the past four seasons, Cooper’s status remains uncertain as he has been a limited participant in practice. If he does play on Sunday, it is anticipated he will wear a cast on his wrist, which he has been using during practice sessions.
“Definitely feeling better. Definitely more comfortable,” Cooper shared, per the *Batavia Daily News* [h/t *CBS Sports*]. “So, just ready to play football again.” Speaking about the cast, he added, “It felt good. Like I said, I don’t really feel pain or anything catching the ball. I’ve just got to get used to it — catching the ball with it.”
The Bills acquired Cooper in a trade with the Cleveland Browns on October 15, involving a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick in exchange for Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round pick from the Detroit Lions. In his two appearances with Buffalo, Cooper has recorded five receptions for 69 yards and one touchdown. Earlier this season with Cleveland, he caught 24 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns during six games, despite inconsistent quarterback play from Deshaun Watson.

A win on Sunday would not only hand Kansas City (9-0) their first loss of the season but also bring Buffalo (8-2) within half a game of the Chiefs for the top seed in the AFC. The No. 1 seed secures a bye to the Divisional round and home-field advantage through the playoffs. However, in January, that advantage proved less beneficial when the Chiefs eliminated the Bills in cold Buffalo. Despite Kansas City’s playoff success, the Bills have won the last three regular-season meetings, including a 38-20 victory in 2021, a 24-20 win in 2022, and a narrow 20-17 triumph last year, where a disputed offensive offsides call impacted the game’s outcome.
The Bills-Chiefs game will kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET / 3:25 p.m. CT in Buffalo and will be broadcast nationally on CBS.
