JUST IN: Bills’ LB shocks bills with unforgettable moment.

Breaking: Bills’ Former LB Joins AFC East Rival in Unexpected Move

The Buffalo Bills will not be reuniting with former linebacker Tyrel Dodson, who is now heading to a division rival.

Dodson was unexpectedly waived by the Seattle Seahawks despite starting all nine games this season and leading the team with 71 total tackles. While some speculated the Bills might reclaim Dodson to address linebacker needs with Matt Milano and Baylon Spector still recovering from injuries, the Miami Dolphins claimed him instead, having priority on the waiver wire.

Dodson’s Journey Back to the AFC East
Dodson joined the Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2019, initially spending most of his rookie season on the practice squad and taking on a more prominent role starting in 2020. During his four seasons in Buffalo, he appeared in 68 games, recording 143 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald explained that Dodson’s release was meant to provide opportunities for other players, such as rookie Tyrice Knight. Macdonald emphasized that the move was intended to benefit Dodson’s career, allowing him to find significant playing time elsewhere. “We really appreciate T-Dot,” Macdonald said. “He’s worked extremely hard… we felt it was the best thing for us to move forward, giving others a chance to step up and allowing Tyrel to find another spot where he could continue playing a significant role.”

Potential Defensive Reinforcement for Bills
The Bills could receive a major boost on defense soon. Head coach Sean McDermott announced that linebacker Matt Milano’s 21-day practice window has been activated as he works his way back from a torn pectoral muscle. Although Milano is ruled out for the upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs, his return is on the horizon. McDermott expressed optimism but remained cautious, saying, “We’re taking it one week at a time… he’s done an excellent job with our trainers to reach this point.” The team will assess Milano’s progress at the end of the week to determine next steps.
