Just In: Dodgers Head Coach Make A Shocking Decision On Mookie Betts

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a significant decision regarding Mookie Betts’ role for the 2025 season. Following a few years of experimenting with his position, Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes confirmed on Wednesday that Betts will transition to playing in the infield full-time next season, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. This decision creates an opening in right field, where Betts has spent the majority of his career.

Betts, an eight-time All-Star and six-time Gold Glove winner in right field, continued to patrol the outfield during the Dodgers’ most recent World Series run. However, he also saw significant time in the infield in 2024, starting 61 games at shortstop and 12 at second base. By moving Betts to the infield for 2025, the Dodgers can reduce their reliance on players like Miguel Rojas and Gavin Lux. More importantly, it clears a spot in right field, which is expected to be a key focus for the team in the upcoming offseason.
