Following their victory on Sunday, which improved their record to 7-2, the Buffalo Bills chose not to make any major moves at the trade deadline on Tuesday. While they added two defensive tackles, they did not pursue any significant trades. The Bills had already made a high-profile trade weeks earlier, acquiring Pro Bowl receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns. After that move, general manager Brandon Beane had suggested the team would continue to explore additional moves, but ultimately, no further trades materialized.
After the deadline passed, star quarterback Josh Allen shared his thoughts on the team’s strategy. “I know [Beane] trusts the guys in this room,” Allen said. “We’ve got a lot of love and a lot of faith in each other in this building, and ultimately, that’s the only thing that matters.”
Though some fans might feel disappointed by the team’s lack of activity, the Bills hold a commanding four-game lead in the AFC East and are currently the No. 2 seed in the AFC with nine games left in the season. Since acquiring Cooper, the Buffalo offense has been firing on all cylinders, scoring 30+ points in three consecutive games, with Allen throwing for over 200 yards and at least two touchdowns in each of those contests. While injuries have affected key defensive players, the team remains optimistic that they will return in time for a strong playoff push in January.
