Breaking: Bills QB Josh Allen Delivers Emotional Message to ‘Our Guy’ Tyler Bass

Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass, who appeared to be on shaky ground after early struggles against the Miami Dolphins, ended Sunday’s game by securing his spot in team history. After missing an extra point and narrowly making another, Bass was called upon for a 61-yard field goal in the final moments. He delivered, sealing a 30-27 victory and setting a new franchise record for the longest kick.

Following the game, a visibly emotional Josh Allen expressed deep admiration for Bass, commending him for his perseverance amid a challenging season. “So proud of him,” Allen said. “So happy for him. I got emotional during my post-game speech. Despite a rough start today, he didn’t give up. That 61-yard field goal to beat a division rival—that’s the stuff of legend. I love him, and everyone in that locker room is thrilled for him. He’s our guy.”

Bass’s season has been tough, with his field goal success rate at a career-low 80.0% and his extra points at 92.9%. After a rocky Week 6 against the New York Jets, where he missed both a field goal and an extra point, the Bills tried out several kickers, briefly adding Lucas Havrisik to the practice squad before releasing him this week.

The emotional moment didn’t end with Allen. After Bass’s kick, teammates rushed to celebrate with him, with punter and holder Sam Martin even giving him a kiss on the cheek on the sidelines. Head coach Sean McDermott presented Bass with the game ball, and Bass, tearing up, thanked his teammates for their support through his struggles.

Reflecting on the pressure of the moment, Bass said, “I just reminded myself that I love this game—this is my dream.” He added that the kick was a reminder of football’s ups and downs. “I focused on the present, staying patient. You’ll face highs and lows, but keep moving forward. Today was a special day.”
