Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen is set to return to practice and could be a potential trade candidate. The two-time Pro Bowler, who rose from being an undrafted free agent to one of the NFL’s most dependable receivers, has been a key part of Carolina’s offense, despite slowing down in recent years. Thielen, the standout in the Panthers’ 2023 passing attack, delivered solid performances, including three receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown in Week 3, despite battling a hamstring injury.

However, with the Panthers sitting at 1-5 and focusing on a rebuild, Thielen’s time in Carolina may be nearing its end. The team may look to evaluate younger players like first-round pick Xavier Legette and undrafted free agent Jalen Coker. As Thielen returns to practice, the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers are possible trade suitors.

The Saints, who started the season strong but have struggled after five consecutive losses and multiple injuries, could use Thielen to help their playoff push. While the team is unlikely to make a major trade, they might consider giving up a late-round pick for the veteran receiver. Given that DeAndre Hopkins was traded for a conditional fourth-round pick, Thielen could be acquired for a sixth- or seventh-round pick, a low-risk move that could provide short-term help.

Meanwhile, the Chargers, led by a recovering Justin Herbert, are still in the Wild Card race. Despite Herbert’s impressive Week 7 performance, the Chargers’ wide receiver group has been underwhelming. Thielen, with his experience and reliability, could be a valuable addition to a team in need of more depth at the position. While head coach Jim Harbaugh favors a defense-first approach, adding a complementary receiver like Thielen would make sense as the Chargers aim to stay competitive.
