Detroit Tigers bench coach George Lombard is reportedly a candidate for the Chicago White Sox’s managerial opening. After the White Sox fired Pedro Grifol in August, Grady Sizemore served as the interim manager, leading the team through a historically poor season with 121 losses. Lombard, 49, previously interviewed for the position in 2020, which ultimately went to A.J. Hinch, before
joining Hinch’s staff. A former player with six seasons in the MLB, he also has coaching experience with the Red Sox and Dodgers. Hinch intends to keep his entire coaching staff for 2024 but acknowledged the risk of losing talent to other teams.
