BREAKING: Rangers star impressed with role players’ ‘dedication to just being ready’

Rangers star praises role players for their ‘dedication to staying ready’

Rangers star Mika Zibanejad praised the dedication of the team’s role players after their latest 4-1 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. While stars like Chris Kreider, Artemi Panarin, and Igor Shesterkin shone in the victory, it was the contributions from lesser-known players that stood out. Will Cuylle led the team in hits and added an assist, rookie Victor Mancini recorded an assist, and Matt Rempe returned to the lineup with a disciplined performance. Veteran defenseman Chad Ruhwedel, playing his first game of the season, delivered a solid showing with four blocked shots and two hits in 14 minutes of ice time, while also being on the ice for two of New York’s goals.

Zibanejad highlighted the difficulty of stepping into the lineup after being out for a few games, acknowledging the focus and dedication required to be ready when called upon. “It’s impressive not to play for a couple of days and then come in. Credit to those guys, it’s not easy,” he said.

Ruhwedel’s performance reassured coach Peter Laviolette that he can rely on the veteran when needed, even though he’s likely to return to his role as the extra defenseman in the Rangers’ next game against the Montreal Canadiens.
