Virginia Tech commitment have both been ranked in the top 75 of the inaugural 247Sports women’s basketball rankings. This is a significant milestone for head coach Megan Duffy, who is entering her first full high school recruiting cycle since transitioning from Marquette to Virginia Tech. Jenkins and Sears represent a strong foundation for Duffy’s vision of building a championship-level program in Blacksburg.
Jenkins, originally committed to Marquette, decided to follow Duffy to Virginia Tech. Known for her strength around the rim and ability to finish through contact, Jenkins is expected to excel in either perimeter shooting or pick-and-roll play at the college level. Her competitive spirit and winning mentality make her a valuable asset.
Sears, meanwhile, cited Virginia Tech’s strong basketball culture and Duffy’s proven track record as key reasons for her commitment. A versatile guard, she can play both the point and shooting guard positions and appreciates the Hokies’ guard-friendly offensive system. Sears is eager to contribute to a winning program and aims to help the team succeed in conference play and the NCAA tournament.
Both players’ talents are expected to play a crucial role as Duffy continues to build a competitive team in the ACC.
