JUST IN: Notre Dame lands another top talented 6-foot-5 wide receiver.

Notre Dame football is aiming to flip a key SMU commit during an upcoming campus visit. As the team returns to action this week, they may also secure a new commitment, potentially adding another wide receiver to their 2025 class. The Irish could be close to landing Jalen Cooper, a 4-star recruit who received an offer from Notre Dame in August. However, they’ll need to persuade Cooper that South Bend is a better fit for him than SMU.

Cooper is scheduled to visit Notre Dame this weekend, giving him a chance to see the team’s offense in action against a struggling Stanford squad. Currently, Notre Dame has two wide receivers committed for 2025—Jerome Bettis Jr. and Elijah Burress—but they’re clearly looking to add a third. While Logan, another recruit, could play receiver, he’s expected to start on defense.

Flipping Cooper from SMU would be a significant move for Notre Dame. It’s possible the Irish are considering using him more on offense, which might be a factor in his interest. Although still committed to SMU, Cooper has acknowledged that Notre Dame is the only other school he’s seriously considering. Now, the focus is on his campus visit and making a strong impression to sway him towards Notre Dame.
