The Buffalo Bills entered the 2024 season lacking a true No. 1 receiver after trading Stefon Diggs, but one insider thinks that could change soon.
ESPN’s Ben Solak proposed an ideal trade that would bring All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to Buffalo, helping to fill the gaps left by Diggs and No. 2 receiver Gabe Davis. After starting the season 3-0, the Bills’ offense has struggled, particularly in their last two losses.
The Bills are among the teams vying for Adams, who has requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on October 6 that the Bills are monitoring the situation but are not seen as the frontrunners. Adams reportedly prefers to reunite with his former teammate Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets, but the New Orleans Saints have been the most proactive in pursuing him. The Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers are also closely following developments.
Solak noted that the Bills might only pursue Adams if the Raiders are willing to absorb part of his salary for better draft compensation. If the Raiders sweeten the deal, he speculated the Bills could offer a 2025 second-round pick and a 2026 third-round pick in exchange for Adams and a 2025 sixth-round pick.
Adams could be a significant addition to a Bills team needing stability in its receiving group. Solak emphasized that Adams is an ideal fit, as the team has been relying on a mix of players at the outside positions, with rookie Keon Coleman showing promise, but veterans like Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Mack Hollins not meeting the demands of a high-volume passing attack. Adams would provide the reliable separation, sure hands, and downfield route-running that the Bills need, similar to what Diggs offered.
