Auburn’s football season may be off to a disappointing start with a 2-4 record, but there have still been standout individual performances. Here are three of the most surprising and impressive players so far in the 2024 season:
KeAndre Lambert-Smith, WR
Lambert-Smith, a transfer from Penn State, has been a key addition to Auburn’s offense. Last year, he led Penn State in receiving, and this season, he’s on track to surpass those numbers. With 24 receptions for 510 yards and six touchdowns, Lambert-Smith leads the team in all three categories and could become Auburn’s first 1,000-yard receiver since 1999. He’s not only delivering on the field but also stepping up as a leader for the Tigers’ young receiver group.
Keldric Faulk, DL
Sophomore defensive lineman Keldric Faulk has emerged as a standout on Auburn’s defense. After a promising freshman season, Faulk has excelled in a starting role this year. He ranks third on the team in tackles (27), second in tackles for loss (7), leads the team in sacks (5), and has recorded four quarterback hurries. Despite the struggles of Auburn’s defense in pass coverage, Faulk has been a key player in their front seven.
Malcolm Simmons, WR
Freshman wide receiver Malcolm Simmons has made an immediate impact in his first season. A four-star recruit from Montgomery, Simmons has solidified himself as Auburn’s second-leading receiver behind Lambert-Smith. With 18 catches for 260 yards and two touchdowns, Simmons is positioning himself to become Auburn’s top target in the future, especially with Lambert-Smith leaving after this season.
Auburn will next face the No. 21 Missouri Tigers on the road on October 19, with the game broadcast on either ESPN or SEC Network.
