Lions Blockbuster Trade Proposal Could Land 6-Time Pro Bowler in Detroit.
Rumors are emerging that Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams is looking to leave, with the Detroit Lions being named as a potential destination, pairing him with standout receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. On October 1, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Raiders were open to trading Adams, stating, “Raiders have informed other teams they would ‘consider’ trading star wide receiver Davante Adams for a package including a second-round pick and additional compensation.” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport followed up, reporting Adams expressed a desire to move on from the Raiders.
In ESPN’s Week 5 preview on October 2, analysts Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler discussed Adams’ trade possibilities, with Graziano noting the Lions as a possible fit. He mentioned, “The Jets, Cowboys, Commanders, and Lions are among the teams with enough cap space to trade for Adams now.” Graziano also noted that Adams’ contract has no guaranteed money after this season, so the acquiring team could release him without any cap hit after 2024.

Adams is reportedly eager to “win a Super Bowl,” and Mike Payton of A to Z Sports suggested that, given Adams’ age (he turns 32 this season) and the Raiders’ desire to cut costs, the Lions could acquire him for a 2026 third-round and 2025 fifth-round pick. Payton compared it to the Bears’ recent trade for Keenan Allen and noted that Detroit would need to take on Adams’ $16.9 million base salary this season and restructure his deal for the future, as he is due $35 million in 2025 and 2026.
Brad Berreman of SideLion Report highlighted that Detroit’s status as a Super Bowl contender could appeal to Adams, potentially making the Lions a more attractive option.
