Urban Meyer has addressed the rumors about his potential return to coach the Florida Gators, making it clear that he is not interested. Following a tough 1-2 start in Billy Napier’s third season, pressure has mounted, with many speculating about a coaching change. Despite some past success, including an 11-2 season under Dan Mullen in 2019, the Gators have struggled, and frustrations have grown over how they are losing, not just that they are losing.
With Napier on the hot seat, names like Jedd Fisch, Lane Kiffin, and Meyer have come up as potential replacements. However, Meyer, who won two national championships with the Gators during his previous tenure, shot down the idea of returning, stating on The Triple Option podcast, “that ship has sailed.” His firm stance allows the program to focus on other candidates if a coaching change is made.
