Lamar Jackson addressed comments he made during Sunday’s game against the Cowboys, where he was heard shouting, “Stop cheating us, bro!” as the Ravens risked losing a significant lead. Many assumed Jackson was directing his frustration at the officials.
However, on Wednesday, Jackson clarified that his remarks weren’t aimed at the referees but rather stemmed from frustration with himself and his teammates.
“I wasn’t mad at the refs,” Jackson explained. “They’re just doing their job. They can’t see everything—there’s holding and all kinds of things on every play. I did say, ‘Stop cheating us,’ but it wasn’t directed at them. I was just venting, playing football, and trying to win.”

While it initially appeared Jackson was upset with the officiating, he later reflected and seemed to realize that accusing officials of “cheating” wasn’t the right approach. His frustration was also evident towards himself and teammates, like Marlon Humphrey, as the Ravens performed well enough to win but struggled to reach their previous year’s level of play.
