Duke running back is set to return against North Carolina after being sidelined for the past two weeks due to an injury he sustained during Duke’s Week 2 win over Northwestern. Moore left that game in the first quarter with a lower leg injury and has not played since, although he was seen wearing a walking boot on the sidelines.
Before his injury, the senior running back recorded 13 carries for 35 yards and a touchdown through Duke’s first game and part of the second. Alongside Star Thomas, Moore has been a key player in Duke’s backfield this season. According to Rivals, Moore is expected to have a role in this Saturday’s game against North Carolina, indicating he will be active.
During Moore’s absence, Thomas has stepped up, rushing for 122 yards on 22 carries and 111 yards on 17 carries in Duke’s last two games, including two touchdowns in their win against Middle Tennessee State. Sophomore Peyton Jones has also contributed, carrying the ball 19 times for 58 yards and a touchdown in the last two games.
Moore’s return comes at a time when Duke’s running game has gained momentum. While Thomas is likely to continue handling the majority of the workload, Moore’s presence will add depth and versatility to the backfield. Given his recent injury, Moore may see limited snaps as he works back into the lineup, but his return could be a significant boost to Duke’s offense moving forward.
