MAJOR BREAKING: Veteran four-star forward commits to Notre Dame.

Four-star forward Brady Koehler has committed to Notre Dame. Koehler, ranked No. 114 in the class of 2025, is a 6-foot-8, 180-pound forward from Indianapolis, Indiana. He chose Notre Dame over offers from Wake Forest, Northwestern, Iowa, and Virginia Tech.

Koehler is the first commitment for Notre Dame’s 2025 class. He explained that his decision was heavily influenced by his relationship with head coach Micah Shrewsberry and the coaching staff. “It came down to my connection with coach Shrewsberry and the staff. They really got to know me, and I feel like they’re fully invested in me,” Koehler said. “Staying close to home was also important, making it easier for friends and family to watch me play. Plus, I get to continue practicing my Catholic faith at Notre Dame, which is a Catholic school and a great academic institution—so the degree will be valuable after basketball.”

Head coach Shrewsberry emphasized that Koehler would be a key piece for the Irish’s future roster. Notre Dame finished last season 13-20, but Koehler is optimistic about the team’s improvement. “I think they’ll be good this year,” he said. “I’ve attended some practices, and the players have made significant progress. I’m confident the team will do well, and I’m excited to be part of that.”

Koehler believes the team’s fast-paced style will complement his game. “They play fast, and last year they had a lot of freshmen without much experience. This season, we’ll see how fast and efficient they can really be. I think I’ll fit in well with their system because it’s similar to how my high school plays. The transition won’t be difficult.”

As for what fans can expect from him, Koehler said, “I bring versatility. Once I add strength in college, I’ll be able to guard any position.”
