Kansas City Chiefs Expected To Sign Former Packers First-Round Pick
The Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers aren’t scheduled to face each other in the regular season, but a potential Super Bowl matchup could still be on the horizon. The Chiefs have started the 2024 season at 3-0, while the Packers are 2-1.
Last season, the Packers defeated the Chiefs in their meeting, and over the years, several former Packers have joined the Chiefs, including wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Now, Bleacher Report predicts that Kansas City may sign former Packers first-round pick cornerback Eric Stokes this offseason.
Stokes, who was not offered a fifth-year option by Green Bay, is seen as a potential target for Kansas City. Bleacher Report’s scouting team suggested, “The Chiefs are the type of team that might take a chance on a player like Stokes. They’ve had success drafting and developing defensive backs, so they could handle the risk of injury, or they might end up with the best version of Stokes we’ve seen.”

The Chiefs are known for taking risks on players with injury histories and have been the NFL’s top team over the past two seasons. If Stokes were to leave Green Bay for Kansas City or another team, the Packers would likely need to focus on drafting cornerbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, especially after not addressing the position in 2024. So far this season, Stokes has recorded eight tackles while playing alongside Jaire Alexander for the Packers. Green Bay may need to add one or two cornerbacks next year to fill the gap.
