Virginia Tech is dealing with a number of injuries as they prepare to face Rutgers, a team also impacted by injuries in the early weeks of the season. The Hokies, who have won their last two games, are facing their own challenges with several key players listed as questionable.
Head coach Brent Pry acknowledged the issue, stating, “We’ve got eight or nine guys right now that are questionable, that are limited today,” ahead of their Week 4 matchup. Like Rutgers, Virginia Tech has been hit hard on defense, with several important players in doubt for the game.
Pry highlighted some of the key players facing uncertainty, including Xavier Chaplin, who only played two snaps before leaving a recent game, as well as Ali Jennings, Bhayshul Tuten, and Keli Lawson, who are all limited. Additionally, safety Jalen Stroman, tight end Nick Gallo, and linebacker Will Johnson remain sidelined, with Stroman’s absence being particularly impactful.
The Hokies have relied on their depth to fill gaps, especially in the middle of their defense, but hope to get some of these players back before the Rutgers game. Pry also noted that linebacker George Ballanace and several others, like Ezekiel Wimbush and Brody Meadows, are also dealing with injuries, leaving the team “banged up” as they work to get players healthy.
