This optimism contrasts with a statement made by manager Dave Roberts just 30 minutes prior, in which Roberts said Stone’s return was “unlikely” due to a delay in his throwing program caused by shoulder soreness. Stone has been on the 10-day injured list
since September 6, and the Dodgers are doubtful about his comeback given the limited games left in the season. In 2023, Stone had a 9.00 ERA while making spot starts and bullpen appearances. However, he earned a place in the rotation during this year’s spring training, posting a solid 3.53 ERA over 140 1/3 innings in 25 starts before his injury. Stone had become a reliable option, providing both stability and depth to a fluctuating Dodgers pitching staff.
