Curt Cignetti Found His Ideal QB in Kurtis Rourke, and It Showed at UCLA: ‘He’s Him, He’s Kurtis’

Indiana senior quarterback Kurtis Rourke was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, becoming the first Hoosier to receive the honor since running back Stevie Scott III in 2020. Rourke also earned spots on the Manning Award Stars of the Week and the Davey O’Brien Award Great 8 lists.

Rourke led Indiana to a dominant 42-13 win over UCLA, completing 25-of-33 passes (75.7%) for 307 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. The 29-point victory was Indiana’s largest road win since 2001 and marked their first conference road win since 2022. This season, Rourke has completed 74.3% of his passes for 755 yards, seven touchdowns, and no interceptions—leading the Big Ten in touchdown passes, with a completion rate that ranks third in the conference.

A transfer from Ohio, Rourke was Indiana’s highest-rated transfer this offseason, according to 247Sports. During his five seasons with the Bobcats, he completed 66.3% of his passes for 7,651 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. Indiana will host Charlotte this Saturday at Memorial Stadium, with the game airing on Big Ten Network.

His four touchdown passes were the most by an Indiana quarterback since 2020, and his 25 completions were the highest since 2022. Rourke is the first Hoosier to win Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week since 2020, and the first Indiana quarterback to do so since Nate Sudfeld in 2015.
