SAD NEWS: Hugh Freeze gives update on season ending injury from 2 top Auburn stars

Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze provided injury updates following the team’s 45-19 victory over New Mexico on Saturday night. One notable absence was starting cornerback Kayin Lee, who missed the game due to a calf strain. Freeze mentioned that Lee had been struggling with the injury throughout the week, adding, “We need to get some of these guys healthy, like him, Cam [Coleman], and [Izavion Miller].” Both Coleman and Miller also missed the game after suffering injuries against Cal, with Coleman nursing a shoulder sprain and Miller dealing with a hip flexor strain.

In Lee’s absence, Champ Anthony shifted from his usual nickel position to play outside corner, joining Keionte Scott on the other side. Antonio Kite also stepped in, playing significant snaps at outside corner.

The most significant injury during the game involved veteran tight end Brandon Frazier, who exited in the first half. He returned to the sidelines in street clothes with a boot on his right foot. Freeze stated after the game that Frazier likely broke his foot. With Frazier out, Rivaldo Fairweather and Luke Deal remained the primary tight ends, while Micah Riley and Rico Walker saw playing time later in the game.
