SAD NEWS: Jets injury list continues to add as Robert Saleh confirms another exceptional player out.

NY Jets head coach Robert Saleh once again raised eyebrows with his handling of injury updates after a questionable statement on Friday. Saleh confidently told reporters that every Jets player, except defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw (who had been absent due to the birth of his child), would fully participate in practice and be available for Week 2. However, just hours later, the final injury report was released, listing cornerback D.J. Reed as questionable due to a knee injury, despite Saleh’s earlier assurances.

Reed, who had been limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to “knee soreness,” was unexpectedly held out of Friday’s session. Saleh had downplayed the severity of Reed’s injury earlier in the week, but after further evaluation, the team determined Reed was not fit to practice. Reed spent the practice working on the sidelines with trainers.

This sudden change is concerning, especially since Reed’s injury has gone from minor to serious enough to potentially sideline him for Sunday’s game. If Reed is unable to play, the Jets will likely turn to Brandin Echols, Qwan’Tez Stiggers, or Jarrick Bernard-Converse. The situation is further complicated by Michael Carter II, who is also dealing with an ankle injury but is expected to play.

Additionally, defensive lineman Micheal Clemons is listed as questionable with a triceps injury. Clemons was limited in practice on Thursday after being a full participant on Wednesday, but he returned to full participation on Friday, indicating he will likely be available.

Meanwhile, Ashtyn Davis (ankle) and Mike Williams (knee) were full participants throughout the week, with no concerns about their availability for Week 2. Tyron Smith also received his usual veteran rest day earlier in the week. Javon Kinlaw’s absence was personal and unrelated to injury.

Reed’s status will be closely watched leading up to the game against the Tennessee Titans, and Saleh’s credibility with injury reports remains shaky at best.
