The Minnesota Vikings, coming off a decisive victory over the New York Giants in Week 1, face a tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2. However, they will be missing a key offensive player for this game. Second-year wide receiver Jordan Addison has been ruled out due to an ankle injury, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The 49ers demonstrated their strength with a commanding win against the New York Jets on “Monday Night Football,” making this a challenging game for the Vikings.
With Addison sidelined, the Vikings’ task just became more difficult, as they are also without Pro Bowl tight end T.J. Hockenson. This means that starting quarterback Sam Darnold will need to rely heavily on Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones and All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Darnold, who played for the 49ers last season, will need to leverage his experience to navigate this tough matchup. He performed well in his first start for the Vikings, completing 19 of 24 passes, and will need to maintain that level of performance. Jones had nearly 110 scrimmage yards and a touchdown in Week 1, but Jefferson had just four receptions. Both players will need to step up significantly for the Vikings to have a chance against the defending NFC champions.
