BREAKING NEWS: Arkansas Land commitment for 5-star top player

Arkansas land Meleek Thomas, a highly sought-after 5-star prospect and elite shooting guard, has garnered national attention for his outstanding abilities. Averaging 20.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists during Nike EYBL play with New Heights Lightning NYC, his skillset has drawn praise from those who’ve worked with him. Shandue McNeill, co-director of New Heights Lightning, praised Thomas as one of the best scorers he’s ever coached, especially for making difficult shots look easy.

Thomas, standing 6-3 and weighing 175 pounds, previously led Lincoln Park Performing Arts High School to two consecutive state titles before deciding to join the Overtime Elite league this season. ESPN’s national recruiting director, Paul Biancardi, ranks him as the No. 2 shooting guard and the No. 9 overall player in the 2025 class. Biancardi notes that Thomas is a natural scorer, capable of shooting from deep or driving to the rim, with a knack for creating scoring opportunities.

Thomas recently narrowed his list of potential schools to Arkansas, UConn, Alabama, Auburn, Kansas, Kansas State, and Pittsburgh. While he had planned an official visit to Arkansas, it has been rescheduled for the Oct. 4-6 weekend when Arkansas faces Tennessee. His connection to Razorback Coach John Calipari, who is known for developing elite talent, has fueled his interest in the program. McNeill emphasized that Thomas is highly motivated, with a winning mentality and drive to succeed. He is expected to make a college decision soon, with a visit to Alabama planned for Sept. 27.
