Breaking News: Another Minnesota Vikings Play Maker Break Down With Injury

Vikings wide receiver is expected to have minimal practice time this week, and 49ers standout running back Christian McCaffrey plans to play in Minnesota after sitting out the season opener. For the Vikings, Addison and outside linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel missed Wednesday’s practice due to injuries sustained or worsened during Sunday’s victory over the Giants. Van Ginkel is dealing with a foot issue, the same problem that sidelined him in spring practices, which he originally injured in last season’s finale with the Dolphins. Head coach Kevin O’Connell mentioned after Sunday’s game that Van Ginkel “should be fine.”

Addison suffered a second ankle injury on a catch in the third quarter, and O’Connell stated Monday that Addison might be limited at best this week. Addison had just recovered from a high ankle sprain on the other ankle sustained on August 14.

“You don’t really replace Jordan,” offensive coordinator Wes Phillips said Tuesday. “He’s a talented player who’s continually improving. But we have confidence in the other players stepping up. Jalen Nailor, I’ve always had a high opinion of him. He’s had some bad luck with injuries in his first couple of years that kept him out of games and affected his progress.”

Nailor is set for his second NFL start against the 49ers. Vikings center Garrett Bradbury (knee) was also listed as limited.

For the 49ers, All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey was limited in practice due to a sore calf and Achilles tendon, which kept him out of San Francisco’s 32-19 season-opening win against the Jets and the last four weeks of training camp.

“My mindset is that I’m playing this week, and that’s where I’m at,” McCaffrey told reporters, as reported by the Associated Press. “That’s how I approach every week. I’m not bluffing. If a player starts thinking, ‘Maybe I’ll play, maybe I won’t,’ that’s not a good mindset when you’re uncertain.”

Also limited for the 49ers on Wednesday were safety Talanoa Hufanga (knee), left guard Aaron Banks (finger, calf), and wide receiver Jauan Jennings (ankle). Defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos (knee) and linebacker Dee Winters (ankle) did not practice.
