BREAKING: A Surprising unknown challenge for Virginia Tech Hokies

Marshall presents an unfamiliar challenge for Virginia Tech

Marshall’s revamped offense will offer a fresh test for Virginia Tech’s defense this Saturday. As the Hokies prepare to face Marshall, they’ll encounter a team with many new players, making the task unpredictable. Head coach Charles Huff has overseen significant changes in the Thundering Herd’s offense, adding to the challenge for Virginia Tech.

Marshall began their season with a dominant 45-3 victory over Stony Brook, but despite extensive film study, Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry and his staff realize that reviewing that game won’t provide many answers. They have prepared using available footage from last weekend and prior seasons, focusing on many players’ performances at other schools.

Virginia Tech is gearing up for a tough battle

After a shaky defensive performance against Vanderbilt, where Hokies struggled to contain quarterback Diego Pavia, the defense is looking to improve this week.

“We broke down both quarterbacks,” Pry noted. “We watched their film, including games from their previous schools and their performance against Stony Brook. While there were differences, there were also notable similarities. So, we’ve studied them separately and prepared accordingly.”

Who will start at quarterback for Marshall remains uncertain, with Stone Earle starting against Stony Brook, followed by appearances from Braylon Braxton and Cole Pennington, the son of former NFL quarterback Chad Pennington.

“Welcome to portal football,” joked Hokies coach JC Price, acknowledging the fluidity of modern rosters.

With Marshall being somewhat of an unknown entity for Virginia Tech, it could either benefit or complicate the Hokies’ preparation heading into Saturday’s game.
