SAD NEWS: Virginia Tech matters compounded as Brent Pry confirms phenomenal defensive man out due to injury.

Virginia Tech’s struggles against Vanderbilt were worsened by a key defensive injury. Following a 34-27 overtime loss to the Commodores, head coach Brent Pry announced that safety Jalen Stroman will be sidelined for a few weeks due to an undisclosed injury. Stroman was notably absent from the Hokies’ depth chart released before their game against Marshall. His absence will be filled by Jaylen Jones and Mose Phillips, with freshmen Quentin Reddish and Devin Alves backing them up.

Stroman’s injury is a significant blow to a defense that had trouble containing Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, who utilized both his arm and legs to lead his team to a game-winning overtime touchdown. On a positive note, Phillips performed well, and Jones is expected to step up in Stroman’s place.

Other adjustments include Keli Lawson moving to will linebacker, with Jaden Keller now backing up Sam Brumfield at mike linebacker. Caleb Woodson shifts to backup Lawson at will, and Miami transfer Kaleb Spencer takes the backup star position. Offensively, Nick Gallo is not listed at tight end, while Caleb Nitta serves as the backup center. Despite some struggles in the previous game, Kyron Drones is listed as the starting quarterback, with Colin Schlee as his backup.
