Breaking News: LSU Just Announced The Injury Of A Key Player

Brian Kelly provided updates on LSU’s injury situation ahead of their home opener against Nicholls. On Tuesday, Kelly added two players to the injury report.

Junior defensive end Princeton Malbrue sustained a significant knee injury while covering a kickoff in the second quarter. Kelly mentioned that LSU filed a complaint, believing the Big 12 officiating crew missed a block in the back penalty on the play.

Freshman wide receiver Kyle Parker suffered a UCL injury to his elbow on his only catch against USC, a six-yard reception in the first quarter. Kelly said Parker is doubtful for Saturday’s game against Nicholls (6:30 p.m., SEC Network+). Starting wide receiver Chris Hilton is still recovering from an ankle bone bruise sustained during preseason camp, and LSU wants him fully healthy before he returns to the lineup. With Hilton and Parker out, LSU increased the role of redshirt sophomore Aaron Anderson, who recorded five catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. In the fourth quarter, Garrett Nussmeier connected with Anderson for a 41-yard pass that advanced LSU deep into USC territory. Kelly stated that LSU aims to find more playing time for redshirt freshman receiver Shelton Sampson, especially if Hilton and Parker remain sidelined.

“He’s got to be able to play for us,” Kelly said, “and we got to get him on the field. So, this is a big week for him.”
