4-star defensive commits to Duke, flipping from Clemson, making him Duke’s top recruit in the class of 2025.
Originally committed to Clemson, Bryce Davis, a highly rated defensive end from Greensboro, N.C., has decided to join Manny Diaz and the Duke Blue Devils. According to 247Sports, Davis is now the highest-rated recruit ever to sign with Duke. Besides Duke, he also visited Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina, and Southern California. Davis is ranked 77th in the 2025 ESPN top 300 and is the fourth-best player in North Carolina. The Grimsley High School standout played only two games in the 2023 season due to a lower-body injury but recorded 92 tackles during his sophomore year.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, Davis is a larger defensive end prospect but possesses the quickness and explosiveness needed to be a backfield disruptor at the college level. He is expected to thrive under new defensive coordinator Jonathan Patke, whose defenses excel in tackles for loss and sacks.
Davis joins a strong recruiting class for Diaz, which is ranked No. 33 by 247Sports. Other notable recruits in this class include wide receiver Jaivon Soloman, defensive lineman Tommy Rupley, and edge rusher Sampson Onuoha.
Duke kicks off its 2024 season against Elon on August 30.
