BREAKING NEWS: Dodgers top star breaks another world MLB Record

Former Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager made MLB history on Thursday, becoming the first left-handed hitting shortstop to hit 200 home runs. This milestone is based on players who have played at least 50% of their games at the shortstop position.

Seager has hit 96 home runs over the past three seasons with the Texas Rangers. During his time with the Dodgers from 2015 to 2021, he recorded 104 home runs, peaking with 26 in 2016. His historic home run came during a 2-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox, marking his 30th home run of the season. The 30-year-old currently has a slash line of .277/.354/.513 with 30 home runs and 74 RBIs this season, ranking ninth in MLB for home runs and second among shortstops, behind Baltimore Orioles’ Gunnar Henderson.

Seager began his career with the Dodgers after being selected in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft. He quickly advanced through the minor leagues, earning All-Star honors and winning the California League MVP before making his MLB debut in late 2015.

In 2016, Seager established himself as one of the Dodgers’ top players, hitting .308 with 26 home runs and 72 RBIs. His stellar performance earned him All-Star status, the National League Rookie of the Year title, and a Silver Slugger award. He repeated as an All-Star and Silver Slugger in 2017.

A torn UCL requiring Tommy John surgery sidelined Seager for much of the 2018 season, but he returned to full strength in 2019. The following year, he played a pivotal role in the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series championship, hitting .317 with 15 home runs and 41 RBIs during the regular season. Seager’s postseason heroics earned him both the NLCS MVP and World Series MVP titles.

After one more season with the Dodgers in 2021, Seager signed a 10-year, $325 million contract with the Rangers in free agency. He went on to win another World Series and World Series MVP with the Rangers in 2023, finishing second in the American League MVP voting behind Shohei Ohtani and securing a spot on the All-MLB First Team.
