The San Francisco 49ers are adding former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. to their practice squad, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. While initially it seemed like a move to the active roster, Matt Barrows of The Athletic confirmed it is only a practice squad signing. Marshall, who stands 6-2 and weighs 200 lbs, was drafted by the Panthers in the second round (No. 59 overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft out of LSU.
Last season, Marshall made 19 receptions for 139 yards on 33 targets over nine games (four starts) with the Panthers, playing 55 percent of the offensive snaps, as noted by Pro Football Reference. He was inactive for seven of the last eight games.
At 24 years old, Marshall has accumulated 64 catches for 767 yards and one touchdown in 36 games (16 starts) during his three NFL seasons. His standout year was 2022, when he recorded 28 receptions for 490 yards and a touchdown on 47 targets.
