BREAKING NEWS: Lincoln Riley confirms commitment with rising star threat-depth.

Four-star wide receiver Phillip Bell has narrowed down his college choices to two schools and set a commitment date. The Mission Viejo (Calif.) standout, ranked No. 235 nationally in the Top247 and No. 184 in the 247Sports Composite, will choose between Ohio State and USC, with his decision coming on August 31.

Bell, one of the top receivers in the country, mentioned that while he’s still in contact with Washington, his focus is mainly on Ohio State and USC. After his game on Saturday, Bell expressed confidence in both programs, stating that he feels he can’t go wrong with either choice.

Breaking down his thoughts on each school, Bell said the following:

Ohio State – “I really love the coaching staff, especially Coach Brian Hartline, who has developed multiple first-round picks at receiver in the last few years. Ryan Day is a great head coach with an offensive mindset, and they consistently have top-tier quarterback play at Ohio State. Every year, you know they’ll have a five-star quarterback running the offense, which is important to me.”

USC – “You can’t go wrong with Lincoln Riley. He’s another offensive-minded head coach who emphasizes the passing game. Dennis Simmons is an excellent wide receiver coach with a strong track record of developing first-round picks. USC has shown that they will play young receivers and get them involved in the offense right away, so there’s a lot to love about both programs.”

Bell has been a nationally recognized recruit since his freshman year and has made significant strides this off-season. Despite missing some games, he had a solid junior year and stepped up during Mission Viejo’s State Championship playoff run. He also shined at various off-season events, showing improved speed and explosiveness.

Bell’s strong start to this season includes two touchdown catches in Saturday night’s 35-7 win over Santa Margarita, bringing his total to three touchdowns in the first two games. Known for his reliable hands and ability to win contested catches, Bell also excels in route running and preparation both on and off the field.
