BREAKING: ESPN commentator send a devastating message to Virginia Tech Hokie

Virginia Tech is the latest to face criticism from Paul Finebaum. The ESPN commentator has been vocal about his disapproval of the ACC this summer, and on Friday morning, Virginia Tech became his latest target. Over the summer, Finebaum has also directed criticism toward Florida State, particularly after the Seminoles were left out of last season’s four-team College Football Playoff, a decision he mocked by saying they shed too many tears.

As a staunch advocate for the SEC, Finebaum often dismisses other conferences. During his appearance on ESPN’s Get Up with Matt Barrie and Heather Dinich, he critiqued Barrie’s 12-team CFP bracket, which included Georgia, Oregon, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, Penn State, Missouri, Utah, and Memphis.

While Dinich disagreed with Barrie’s picks, Finebaum was particularly critical of Virginia Tech’s inclusion. “That’s a pretty embarrassing list,” Finebaum remarked. “Oklahoma State isn’t going anywhere, and Virginia Tech? Matt, you must be trying to win favor by attending one of their games early in the season. I can’t think of anything more ridiculous.”

Clearly, Finebaum isn’t buying into the Virginia Tech hype as the 2024 season approaches. While the Hokies are long shots for both the CFP and the ACC Championship, their schedule gives them a chance to achieve these goals. However, the road ahead is challenging, and a 10-2 overall record with 6-2 in the ACC may still fall short of earning them a spot in the ACC Championship Game.
