A trade proposal suggests the Toronto Maple Leafs could acquire a gritty $9 million forward from the Buffalo Sabres, addressing their need for a stronger forward group. The trade pitch, created by a user on PuckPedia’s new PuckGM tool, involves the Maple Leafs acquiring Jordan Greenway from the Sabres. In return, the Sabres would receive Pontus Holmberg and a 2025 second-round pick (Florida’s), while also retaining $1.5 million of Greenway’s $3 million salary for the final year of his contract.
Jordan Greenway
Greenway, a veteran forward with 401 NHL games under his belt, would add toughness and scoring depth to Toronto’s bottom six, which has been a concern for the team. Last season, he recorded 10 goals and 18 assists in 67 games for Buffalo. Holmberg, a 25-year-old Swede, could fit better with the Sabres’ younger core and potentially take on a larger role in Buffalo, where he has one year left on his $800,000 contract.
While the Maple Leafs have been relatively quiet since their major July 1 signings, GM Brad Treliving hinted that more moves could happen before the season starts. Meanwhile, the Sabres, who have been active in the offseason, are expected to compete for a playoff spot for the first time since 2011, according to GM Kevyn Adams.
